293-Fect: Transient Transfection Reagent For Protein Production

293-Fect is a highly effective transient transfection reagent for protein production in 293 cell varieties. 293-Fect is a synthetic amphiphilic polymer that is specifically tailored for DNA delivery and recombinant protein production. It is capable of undergoing multivalent interactions with plasmid DNA and encapsulating co-incubated DNA molecules into ~100 nm particles with a net positive charge. The complexation between the plasmid DNA and 293-Fect occurs in aqueous buffers, obviating the need for organic solvents during preparation. 293-Fect is a non-integrating carrier of DNA, so that the genetic make-up of host cells is not altered after treatment with the transfection reagent. 293-Fect has been tested and found effective in different types of attachment dependent cells as well, but users are advised to test the efficacy of the reagent in their particular cell type in order to confirm application to other cell types. As with all transfection reagents, formulation of 293-Fect with DNA may need to be optimized for specific cell types.
